Moderator Impersonation on IRC
In light of reports of moderator impersonation, when speaking to someone who claims to be a moderator on our IRC channel (accessible via our chat page), confirm that they have ‘operator status.’ You can check this by looking for an ‘@’ symbol before the username (‘nick’) while in the #pactf channel.
Sorcery Error
Unfortunately, after reviewing the solves for Sorcery, we’ve discovered that there was an error with the problem binary. We’ve decided to pull all existing solves for the problem after fixing the problem, so don’t be alarmed if your score appears to go down. Please review the problem and submit again after making any changes. Round 2 has started!
Round 2, Bamboozling Binaries, is live! If you’re not already familiar with it, you should read up on buffer overflow and using gdb before you start your timers!
Finally, you might need a UNIX shell to run some of these binaries! For those on Macs and Linux, you can just open your terminal program. If you’re using Windows, you can use Cygwin, MinGW or even the c9 web shell service. If you need assistance setting these up, hop on by our irc channel and we’ll lend you a hand!
